About Maggie Fischer
About Maggie Fischer
A Lehigh Valley native and graduate of Emmaus High School (Class of 1997), Maggie Fischer earned her degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She went on to enjoy a distinguished career as a creative director in the travel industry, leading many award-winning national and global campaigns for major brands and destinations around the world.
When the pandemic reshaped the travel landscape, Maggie returned home to Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley with her husband Jarrett and two children, Mara and Jack, channeling her design expertise into a new creative pursuit — the restoration of historic homes. Combining her passion for design, storytelling, and heritage, she founded The Painted Petal, a one-of-a-kind boutique guest house that celebrates the craftsmanship and romance of a bygone era while offering modern luxury and warmth.
Beyond The Painted Petal, Maggie has been instrumental in regional preservation efforts, spearheading major restoration projects at The Knauss Homestead — the Revolutionary-era estate built by her seventh-great-grandparents, Heinrich Knauss and Anna Maria Ehrenhardt, founders of the Borough of Emmaus. She is also completing the restoration of a 1910 mansion in Allentown’s West End Rose Garden neighborhood.
Today, Maggie lives in Bethlehem, where she continues to merge design and history — breathing new life into century homes and inspiring others to preserve the architectural treasures of the Lehigh Valley.
