The parlor
The parlor at The Painted Petal is a showpiece of craftsmanship and comfort. Anchored by an intricate terra cotta fireplace, the room glows with historic character, from its stunning leaded glass windows to the original inlaid chestnut floors. French doors open the space with elegance, creating a timeless backdrop for conversation, relaxation, or entertainment.
Blending old with new, the room is also outfitted with a Samsung Frame TV, allowing guests to display artwork that suits their mood or stream their favorite shows without compromising the historic charm. The result is a parlor that feels both authentic to 1910 and perfectly suited to modern living.
The Dining Room
The dining room at The Painted Petal is a warm and elegant gathering space that comfortably seats eight guests.
Surrounded by turn-of-the-century restored furniture, handmade wallpaper, and rich woodwork, the room captures the essence of 1910 craftsmanship. A stunning leaded glass bay window fills the space with natural light, while an authentic swinging door and leaded glass French doors add to its historic charm.
Meals are served on antique china in a variety of delicate patterns, paired with period-appropriate flatware, ensuring every dining experience feels both timeless and memorable. Whether for an intimate breakfast or a celebratory dinner, the dining room is designed to bring people together in true early-20th-century style.
The Kitchen
The kitchen at The Painted Petal is both a working space and a living museum of early 20th-century design. At its heart is a fully restored 1920 GE side-by-side refrigerator and a 1920 Bengal gas stove, both gleaming reminders of a bygone era. Authentic hand-made cabinetry and a walk-in pantry provide warmth and character, while the original farmhouse sink anchors the room in its historic roots.
Adding to its uniqueness is a rare dumbwaiter—a detail you won’t find in most homes today—that once made entertaining and household work easier. Together, these elements create a kitchen that is as functional as it is evocative, blending history, craftsmanship, and charm in every detail.
The Library
The library at The Painted Petal is a haven of history and quiet inspiration. Its walls are lined with incredible hand-painted wallpaper and elegant bookcases that showcase a wide selection of classic volumes—many bound before the Titanic ever set sail. Every detail invites you to slow down and linger, whether you’re immersing yourself in a timeless story, flipping through pages of local history, or simply enjoying the atmosphere.
With comfortable seating and an ambiance that blends refinement with ease, the library is just as welcoming for guests who want to sink into a book as it is for those who need a quiet moment to finish firing off a few emails.
The music room
The music room at The Painted Petal is a celebration of artistry and sound. At its center stands a 1917 Lyon & Healy baby grand piano, a graceful instrument that has filled the room with music for over a century.
Beside it, an original 1915 Edison Diamond Disc Model C-250 phonograph brings the past to life, playing turn-of-the-century tunes with warmth and authenticity. Large leaded glass windows and elegant French doors flood the space with light, while the original inlaid chestnut floors provide a rich foundation for gatherings. Whether enjoyed as a quiet retreat or a lively space for performance, the music room captures the soul of the era in every detail.
The Chicken Coop
Once home to the Snyder family’s prized chickens and pigeons, the Chicken Coop has been reimagined as one of The Painted Petal’s most unique and versatile spaces. Flooded with natural light from restored stained-glass windows salvaged from a Gilded Age Chicago mansion, it blends historic charm with modern comfort—including high-speed Wi-Fi for work or leisure.
A wall of windows facing the terrace opens seamlessly to create the perfect serving space for al fresco dining or entertaining. Whether you envision it as a private workspace, a creative studio, or an unforgettable dining venue, the Chicken Coop can be fully customized to suit your needs, offering an experience like no other.
