A Historic Restoration
Back in 2023, I was looking for a project I could pour myself into. After giving up my marketing agency (actually, COVID took it), I needed a way to channel my creative energy and love of historic architecture into something fulfilling and valuable to the community. I grew up in the Lehigh Valley, and after having spent more than 2 decades away, I always missed the history and beautiful old homes that seem to be everywhere here. So, on one yucky winter day, I stumbled upon 7809 Hamilton Boulevard.
From the outside, this brick monster was clearly in distress. A patchwork roof, crumbling brick, and a yard full of junk and debris weren’t enough to hide what was underneath – a work of art. Upon closer inspection, I realized that this house was no ordinary house. The woodwork, leaded glass, and incredible front entry told me that this was a literal diamond in the rough. I saw what it once was and could be again. But it would be an insane undertaking. Everyone with me repeated the same thing… “Mag, DON’T.” Except my Dad.
